About Dr. Chan Wei Xin
Counselling Psychologist in Singapore
Hello, I’m Wei Xin, counselling psychologist at The Connection Ground. I work with adults and young adults sitting with anxiety, burnout, trauma, life transitions, and the quiet feeling that something is off. My approach is shaped by personal experience and by the people I've walked alongside, who've shown me how the right kind of support can change what feels possible.
By being here, you've already taken the hardest step. Know that how you're feeling is real. You don't need to arrive certain or sorted. Together, at your pace and on your terms, we can find a way through. If I feel like the right person to walk alongside you, get in touch and we'll explore what comes next together.

Specialties
Anxiety, depression, and burnout. Easing the load of stress, low mood and exhaustion and returning to steadier ground.
Trauma and impactful life events. Making meaning of past experiences and restoring a sense of safety and self-confidence to move forward and live well.
Identity and self-understanding. Navigating sexuality, gender, cross-cultural, neurodivergent. Bring your full self, without having to perform or shrink.
Family pressure and autonomy. Holding family with care and still choosing your own path. Knowing what's yours, and what's theirs.
Life transitions. University, first jobs, moving countries, ending relationships, role shifts. Finding steady footing as you transition between chapters.
Relationships from your perspective. Bringing curiosity to the patterns in how you show up, what gets activated, and what you'd like to feel instead.
Self-doubt, perfectionism, and people-pleasing. Letting the parts of you that learned to perform, protect, or please find rest and what's underneath.
Low self-esteem. Loosening the internalised narratives that tell you you're not enough. Finding what life feels like when they're no longer running the show.
Is this you?
Here are some stories that might feel familiar, and how therapy might look like for you.
(And if your story isn't here - it's still very welcome)
“I look like I have it together, but I'm quietly falling apart"
You’re the dependable one - at work, at home, for your friends. But inside, you're stretched thin. Maybe it's burnout. Maybe you're just done performing. You want space to breathe, feel, and finally hear your own voice again.
In therapy, we’ll move gently, at your pace, toward clarity, self-leadership, and rest.
"There's a part of me that feels wrong or unacceptable."
You live between identities. Queer, cross-cultural, neurodivergent, immigrant, or all of the above. You've learned to keep parts of yourself hidden to stay safe. Now you want something different: integration, freedom, belonging.
In therapy, you can bring your whole self. No performance. No need to shrink.
"My family wants one thing for me. I want something else."
You love them. You also feel suffocated by them. Every choice you make, about your career, your partner, who you are, gets weighed against what they'd approve of. Saying no comes with guilt. Saying yes comes with quiet resentment.
In therapy, we sit with both. We work on knowing what's yours, what's theirs, and how to hold the relationship without losing yourself.
"Something feels off, but I can't name it."
You're not in crisis. You're functioning. You might even be doing well, on paper. But there's a low hum of dissatisfaction or numbness or restlessness that you can't quite explain. You've thought about therapy before. You're not sure if your reasons are good enough.
In therapy, your reasons are enough. We start with what's there and let it unfold.
How I work
As a psychologist, I am dedicated to working with you to fulfill your hopes for therapy using the models I am trained in:
Person-Centred Therapy (PCT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CT)
I offer a repertoire of therapeutic frameworks for us to generate a more comprehensive understanding of your psychology by discussing your described experiences and perspectives, and drawing connections to relevant theories and substantiated approaches to design a suitable therapeutic plan together.
What to expect
Our sessions will be a place to slow down and figure out the first stepping stone together. How you're feeling is real, and your experience matters to me. It is part of my duty of care to facilitate therapy in a sensitive manner that feels respectful and safe, whilst empowering you to make the changes you wish to see in your life. I understand it may not always be easy to open up, so we'll move at your pace as we build a relationship that feels supportive and healing.
About Dr Chan Wei Xin
My story.
My passion for supporting people through their psychological struggles comes from personal experience, and from family, friends, and clients who have climbed out of the darkest shadows of life and found a light that kept them moving forward. It is from hearing their stories, and being privileged to walk alongside them on their journey, that I have developed a keen interest in how remarkably resilient the human spirit can be with the right support and tools, and in how relationships, as much as they can be beautiful, can also be testing and push us in different ways that can lead to further growth if we learn how to harness the pain.
At the same time, having experienced an empowering and supportive therapeutic relationship with a mental healthcare professional certainly helped me address personal blocks during a difficult transition after moving to the UK. I came out the other side with a renewed perspective and a more nurturing relationship with myself. Therapy also contributed to an understanding of my core needs so I can take better care of myself in times of adversity. I am keen to carry all the elements I found to be helpful into my engagement with clients to build a relationship that feels supportive and healing to them, too.
My practice.
I graduated with a doctorate in Psychology (PsyD) for Counselling Psychology in Scotland, UK, where I trained and worked for 7 years. I offer in-person and online therapy, depending on which may fit your needs better.
I have experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma and impactful life events. I also have clients who describe feeling unsure of what they would like to work on. If you have a sense of things not feeling quite right, and would like to gain a sense of where to start, therapy can be a place that illuminates the answers, through evidence-based techniques and a helpful conversation.
I believe that when we have a window to connect with ourselves and understand ourselves better, we can make more informed choices about the steps we can take to improve our life. At every step of the way, I am open to collaborating with you on how we can align our therapeutic plan according to what feels most important to you.
Having engaged in therapy as a client, I understand it may not be easy to open up to someone.
Just by coming here and looking for someone you can contact, you have already taken a significant first step towards taking charge of your mental health. If something here resonates, the easiest next step is a 15-minute intro call. It's free, no commitment, and you can ask me anything about how I work.
