Meeting you where you are, with curiosity and compassion

About Dian

Counselling Psychologist in Singapore

Hello there! My name is Dian, and I am an Indonesian Counselling Psychologist based in Singapore. I offer both in-person and online therapy services in Singapore for adults, providing support for depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and more.

About me: I am a client before I am a psychologist.

I firmly believe that therapy services are for everyone. We all need a safe space to question life, process difficult emotions, explore our situations, and take time to rest and recharge.

Whether you’re feeling lost, stuck, navigating a crisis, or seeking new perspectives, inclusive therapy offers that essential space. My approach integrates practical strategies and evidence-based methods to help you move forward, grow, and reconnect with yourself.

I work with individuals, couples, and other relationship units, creating a safe, accepting, and non-judgmental environment where curiosity, understanding, and compassion guide every session.

Specialties

Anxiety, depression, stress, or burnout. Slow down, tune in, and get to know yourself more deeply. We learn to give attention to your thoughts, emotions, and internal patterns and start to find steadier ground.

Trauma and impactful life events. We support you to restore a sense of safety and self-confidence so that meaningful processing can begin. Many patients are able to heal from trauma and live well.

Relationship and couple therapy. A space for partners to slow down, find new ways of emotional connection, and learn healthier ways of navigating challenges together. I work with monogamous, polycule, queer, hetero and open relationships.

Identity and belonging. Sexuality, gender, neurodivergence, immigrant, cross-cultural identity. The parts of you that learned to stay hidden, and what it could feel like to bring your whole self.

Cross-cultural life and family expectations. Navigating the in-between of growing up in one culture and building a life in another, and the family expectations and challenges that come with it.

Life transitions and caregiving. Grief, migration, new chapters in work or relationships, caring for ageing parents. Finding steadiness when life is changing around you.

Growth and self-leadership. Not just coping, but uilding emotional resilience, self-trust, and the clarity to live with more intention.

About Dian Karnina

My story.

While I value the rigor of psychological training and commit to lifelong learning, I also draw on my life experiences as powerful teachers of what it means to be human—leaving home at 18, serving as a long-term caregiver, and leaving a stable career in pursuit of deeper meaning and fulfillment.

Having grappled with such challenges, I am no stranger to failure, rejection, anxiety and insecurity. Yet, I strongly believe in the ability to expand one’s capacity for possibilities and opportunities - even in the midst of hardship.

My practice.

My therapy approach is inclusive, LGBTQIA+ affirming, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed, supporting clients of all ages and backgrounds in improving their quality of life. I am also passionate about adopting a person-centered approach, working collaboratively with clients to harness their innate strengths and resources in navigating life’s challenges.  I integrate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed therapy, and EMDR. For couple/ relationship therapy, I use The Gottman Method and Intimacy from the Inside Out approach (based on IFS).

My background includes a decade in the corporate sector (advertising and market research) and living in diverse countries, including Indonesia, the Netherlands, the UK, Malaysia, and Singapore. These experiences have heightened my awareness of the intersectional changes and challenges people face at different stages of life, allowing me to bring empathy and attunement to my work.

What to expect

Before the first session.

We start with a 15-minute introductory call (free of charge) to see if we’re a good fit. You can also use this opportunity to ask any question about the therapeutic process, or how I work.

The first session.

Our first session will focus on getting to know you, your story, and what’s bringing you in now. There’s no pressure to share everything, just whatever feels relevant to start with.

Ongoing sessions.

Sessions are typically weekly or fortnightly, depending on your pace and needs. Some sessions may be conversational, others more experiential. We might map out inner parts, explore family or cultural influences, or pause to check in with your nervous system. Sometimes we’ll use worksheets or tools. Sometimes we’ll sit with silence and let something deeper emerge.
